Description

Quick and Easy Party Sausage Bites with Pine Nuts, perfect for a party snack or appetizer!

Ingredients

Scale

2 tbsp butter

1 medium onion, minced

2 garlic cloves, minced

14 oz mild or hot Italian sausage

1 tsp dry thyme

1 tsp dry basil

23 tbsp fresh chopped dill

1/4 cup pine nuts

1/2 tsp salt

1 sheet of frozen puff pastry, thawed according to instructions

1/3 cup grated parmesan (optional)

sesame seeds, caraway seeds, dill seeds, fennel seeds for decorating

1 egg, whisked with 1 tbsp. water for glazing

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat oven to 425F.

Step 2: Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, sauté for 5 minutes until soft. Let cool slightly, then mix with sausage, thyme, basil, dill, pine nuts, and salt in a bowl.

Step 3: Roll out puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into 4 strips (3” wide, 12” long each). Place sausage filling in a 1-inch log along the center of each strip. Sprinkle with Parmesan (if using). Brush one long edge with egg wash, then fold pastry over the filling, pressing to seal. Roll lightly to seal the seam and even out thickness.

Step 4: Cut each filled strip into 12 bite-sized pieces (for 24 total). Place on a lined baking sheet, 1 inch apart. Brush tops with egg wash and sprinkle with seeds (if using). Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown and crisp. Serve warm & enjoy!
